17 Questions For Your Photographer | Richmond, VA Wedding and Event Planner


  1. Do you have my date available? The most important and obvious question to ask any vendor before getting started with discussions about your wedding.
  2. How far in advance do I need to book you?
  3. How long have you been in business?
  4. Can you provide references? Questions 3 & 4 just ensure they are a credible vendor and provide quality service.
  5. How many weddings have you photographed? Have any been my wedding style or size? You want your photographer to be comfortable, they will be in charge of capturing this special moment.
  6. Describe your photography style – traditional, photojournalistic, illustrative, etc.
  1.  Describe your working style. Will they be visibly present and making sure your bridal party is posed to perfection? Or will they be invisible and fade into the background? This also relies on what style of photography they provide.
  2. What makes you different from other photographers?
  3. Do you have a portfolio I could look through?
  4. Do you shoot in digital or film format? Or both? Here’s the difference: film takes longer to develop and digital can be easily altered (ie. color to black and white).
  5. Can I provide a list of what shots we would like?
  6. What information do you need from us before our wedding day?
  7. Have you ever worked with any of my vendors? This is important. Wedding pros are very close and knowledgeable of one another…not just the good but also the bad. Having vendors that have worked together before makes an extra seamless wedding day!
  8. What packages do you offer?
  9. How long after our wedding will we receive proofs, CD, etc?
  10. Is there a fee for the negatives or digital images? Only if you know you want all of the negatives and all of the digital images.
